How to pay for Claude Pro from Nigeria
Claude works in Nigeria, and Claude Pro is billed in U.S. dollars. The hard part is the payment: many naira cards are declined at the Claude checkout. Here is why, what to try, and what to do if nothing works.
Is Claude available in Nigeria?
Yes. Nigeria is on Anthropic's supported-countries list, https://www.anthropic.com/supported-countries, for both Claude.ai and the API (checked 4 October 2026). That matters for payment too: Anthropic's help page says the card's billing address must be in a supported country, and a Nigerian address qualifies.
So the account side is fine. If the payment fails, the problem is the card, not your country.

OrderYour options, from cheapest to most effort
- Ask your bank to enable international online payments. Some banks keep this off by default. Ask what the current monthly foreign-currency limit is on your card, and whether recurring payments to foreign merchants are allowed. Claude Pro renews monthly, so a card that works once but blocks recurring charges will fail next month.
- Use a dollar card from a domiciliary account. Several Nigerian banks issue USD debit cards linked to a domiciliary account. You fund the account in dollars, so the naira FX allowance does not apply. Fees and funding rules differ by bank; ask for the card's international online limit before you apply.
- Try a fintech virtual dollar card. A number of Nigerian fintech apps issue virtual USD cards that you top up from naira. They are quick to get. Two cautions: some are prepaid cards, and merchants on Stripe can block prepaid cards with Radar rules on the card's funding type; and Anthropic's help page says it accepts credit and debit cards without saying anything about prepaid. Results differ from card to card and change over time. We do not recommend a specific app.
- Subscribe through the app store. If the Claude app in your Google Play or Apple App Store offers an in-app Pro subscription, the store charges you instead of Stripe, using whatever payment methods your store account accepts. One catch: if you later switch to a gift subscription, Anthropic says someone subscribed through the iOS or Android app must let that subscription end before redeeming.
- Ask someone abroad to buy you a gift. Claude gift subscriptions are sold officially: Pro, Max 5x or Max 20x, for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Anthropic says "Gift subscriptions are available globally." The buyer must already be a Pro or Max user ("Free users and members of Team and Enterprise organizations can't purchase"). If you know a Claude subscriber with a working card, this is the cleanest route. Never share your Claude login with anyone instead.
Claude Pro as a gift, paid in crypto
If you don't have a card that works and don't know a subscriber abroad, we can be that buyer. You pay us in crypto, we buy the official Claude gift subscription and email you the gift link. You open it, sign in to your own Claude account and redeem it. We never ask for your password, and our card never sits on your account.
The total is the plan price plus our 15% fee, shown as one number:
- Claude Pro, 1 month: $23.00 — order
- Claude Pro, 3 months: $69.00 — order
- Claude Pro, 12 months: $276.00 — order
- Claude Max 5x, 1 month: $115.00 — order
A gift does not renew by itself, so there is no card to fail next month; when it ends you order again or pay another way. Anthropic says the gift expires 365 days after the purchase date if not redeemed, and gifts don't stack, so redeem one before ordering the next.
Delivery is usually within 2 hours of payment confirmation, 09:00–21:00 UTC, and at most 24 hours. If we can't complete the payment for your plan, we refund the full amount you paid, in the same coin, minus only the network fee of the refund transfer. OrderQuestions
Is Claude available in Nigeria?
Yes. Nigeria is on Anthropic's supported-countries list for Claude.ai and the API, checked 4 October 2026.
Why does my naira card work locally but fail on Claude?
Claude bills in dollars from abroad. Banks set foreign-currency limits on naira cards and can switch online foreign payments off. Ask your bank for the current limit and whether international recurring payments are enabled.
Do virtual dollar cards work for Claude Pro?
Some do, some don't. Anthropic says it accepts credit and debit cards and does not mention prepaid cards. Merchants can block prepaid cards, so results vary by card.
Do I need to give you my Claude password?
No. For Claude we only buy the official gift subscription and email you the link. You redeem it on your own account.
What if I already pay for Claude through the Play Store or App Store?
Anthropic says you must let the app subscription end before redeeming a gift. Gifts don't stack with an active subscription.
