How much to pay for Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity, with tax

The price on an AI pricing page is rarely the number that leaves your account. Claude, ChatGPT and Perplexity show U.S. prices before tax, and outside the U.S. the checkout can add VAT, GST or sales tax, then your bank can add currency conversion and its own fees. This guide shows the list prices, what gets added and where, what to check on the checkout page, and our all-in totals for every plan we pay.

U.S. list prices, before tax

These are the prices the services publish for the U.S., without tax. They are the starting point, not what you pay.

Claude's pricing page states it directly: “Prices shown don't include applicable tax.” Anthropic's consumer terms add: “You agree that we may charge the Payment Method for any applicable fees listed on our Services and any applicable tax.” Treat the ChatGPT and Perplexity list prices the same way: U.S. dollars, before tax.

Some services now charge in local currency in some countries. Anthropic, for example, moved to rupee pricing in India in July 2026, according to Indian press reports. Where that applies, your checkout shows a local price instead of the dollar one.

What to check on the checkout page

• The currency. Is it USD or your local currency? Local-currency pricing avoids your bank's conversion, but the local price is not always the dollar price converted.
• The tax line. Most checkouts show tax as a separate line once you enter a billing address. If you see no tax line yet, the address is not filled in, and the total above it is not final.
• The billing period. Monthly and annual totals sit side by side on many pricing pages. Check which one the button charges, and whether the plan renews.
• The billing country. It should match your card. A mismatch can change the tax and can also cause a decline; see Claude card declined and ChatGPT payment was not approved.
• Your bank's terms for foreign currency and foreign merchants. The checkout can't show those; your bank's fee schedule or app does.

Our all-in totals

If your card is declined or your bank adds too much, Paidrelay pays the plan on your own account and you pay us in crypto. Claude and Perplexity come as the official gift, emailed to you to redeem; no password, and our card is not on your account. For ChatGPT, our person in the U.S. pays the checkout link you send, with a U.S. card; it is monthly, and each renewal is a new order.

What the total includes. Each total is the plan price plus our 15% fee, shown as one number. It is the full amount you send us: there is no separate service line, card fee or currency conversion on our side. The one cost outside it is the network fee your wallet or exchange charges to send the coins, which goes to the network. Delivery is usually within 2 hours of payment confirmation, 09:00–21:00 UTC, and at most 24 hours. If we can't complete the payment for your plan, we refund the full amount you paid, in the same coin, minus only the network fee of the refund transfer.
